“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
Ephesians 4:22-24
We are reminded in Ephesians to put off our former selves and be made new each day into the likeness of Christ. Holy, blameless, and perfect. It feels at times that God’s perfect ways are so unattainable that we continually feel like a failure who lets Him down. God doesn’t demand perfection but a heart that is willing. Our flesh is weak and is battling us every time we wake up to face the day. God understands your battles and only wants to face them with you. God’s ultimate goal is for you to live in perfect commune with Him and to build up you character to mirror His. He gives direction, insight, wisdom, and loving nudges for you to move in the right direction. Don’t beat yourself up when you fail or let thoughts of shame consume you. Learn from it and put your hand back in the hand of God. Each morning let Him renew your mind, cleanse your heart, and give you a willing spirit to be mindful of the direction He tells you to go. God is on your side today and always!
