Unshakable Faith

When your faith is tested and you are going through a rough time, whom are you going to look at to meet your needs? I will share with you what could be going on in the spirit realm while you wait on the Lord.

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Mark 11:24

What beautiful words. Present your requests and prayers to God. All He requires is that you believe and have faith and it will be yours.

Have you ever felt that maybe a prayer was unheard or just unanswered?

Have you ever felt tormented by the enemy or by life itself and asked God for relief with seemingly no response?

I think at some point we have all been there. And though we know the Lord is a good and faithful God we can feel alone and unheard at times.

My experience forever changed my perspective on praying and having my prayers answered.

This summer I have spent more time than ever in my life developing a deeper intimacy with Christ and the Holy Spirit. By changing some areas in my life I believe this angered the enemy greatly. The closer you want to get to God, the more the enemy wants to tear you away from him. The enemy can try, but he doesn’t have that kind of power. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

I soon would experience a rough period of testing and attacks from the enemy. My faith and trust was tested the most.

I was plagued by horrible nightmares.

One night specifically I prayed aloud that I would have peaceful dreams and rest.  That night I had experienced one of the worst nightmares I had ever experienced in my life. I mean the worst dream you could ever imagine. It left me very confused and angered. I prayed a specific prayer that I don’t always pray and had it completely thrown back in my face.

It was clearly an attack on the enemy, but why? Why could he attack my dreams when I specially prayed to God to have good pure dreams?

I spoke with my mom on the subject and she advised me to pray quietly in my mind. The enemy can hear the words we say and the prayers as well. That’s why it’s so important to speak life giving words and not negative oppressing words over ourselves.

I listened to her advise and that night I prayed in my mind that I would have no nightmares and dream peacefully. The night I had another nightmare.

It appeared my prayers were not being answered.

I wasn’t ready to doubt God yet. I prayed continually every single night and every night I had horrible nightmares that made me feel restless during the day and weary at night. I personally like to wake up early in the morning to start my day, and I was sleeping in every day because of these nightmares. They made me physically and mentally exhausted.

Even though I didn’t understand why this was happening I continued to pray. Many nights had passed and still I was having nightmares.

One morning I awoke in a cold sweat from a very violent and disturbing dream. That morning I had enough. I was so sick and tired. Angry and beyond frustrated. Why was this continuing?

Was I doing something wrong? Had I left an open door in my life that was allowing these dreams?

I begged and pleaded with God to tell me why this was happening because I couldn’t take another sleepless night like this again.

I asked for him to reveal to me why this was happening.

Then out of nowhere a thought appeared in my mind. It was the story of Job. A man in the bible who was blameless and upright. He feared the Lord and shunned evil.

The the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”

“Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.”

The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord. (Job 1:8-12)

The story goes on to the many trails of Job. He was righteous in his own eyes he repented and the Lord forgave him. He also blessed him more then what he originally had.

The point I want to make from this story is I imagined in my mind an evil spirit going to the Lord and saying something like this, “Let me throw fiery darts at her dreams and disrupt her sleep. Watch and see that she will lose her faith in you and truly curse you.”

Then I’d imagine God saying something like this, “You don’t know my daughter like I do. She is a good and faithful servant and I have faith in her.”

When I imagined this in my mind it brought me to tears. I announced out loud, “I do not doubt my faithful God. I know he hears my prayers and will deliver me.”

I wanted to let the enemy know that I trusted God despite my circumstances. I praised God and his holy name and gave him thanks.

That night I had the best sleep I’ve had in a long time. The nightmares stopped completely and my life went on like it always had.

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

James 1:6

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

 Hebrews 11:6

I want you to know that every prayer you pray is heard, but most importantly is the faith you put behind it. It is impossible to please God without your faith. If you struggle in this area and are not good at putting your trust in the Lord then pray for it. Pray for what you need, and you will receive it.

You must believe and have faith.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

When the enemy comes against you and is trying to steal your joy and faith, I want you to have a thought like this:

Imagine an evil spirit telling God that you will surely curse him when your prayer is not answered at your own preferable timing. Doesn’t that make you want to believe and have even more faith? Doesn’t that make you want to make God proud and for him to call you good and faithful servant?

God is never absent, always present. The enemy wants to tear down your faith in God and make you doubt him in hard times. Don’t let the enemy have victory in your life. God sent his son so that we can live victoriously. There is power in the name of Jesus. The Holy Spirit was sent to lead us into all truth. There is power available to every believer. Don’t live this life powerless and defeated. Live the way God always intended!

Be faithful in the Almighty and you can never fail!

He Knows You

coffee dates

During my quite time I came across this chapter in the bible and was reminded just how wonderful my Heavenly Father is! He knows me and He knows you better than you know yourself. I could write down all the details on how He knows us, but I don’t think I can say it better than Him.

Psalm 139

You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.

You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.

You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.

You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?

If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,

10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.

11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”

12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them!

18 Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.

19 If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!

20 They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.

21 Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?

22 I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.

23 Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.

24 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

1. Don’t store up worldly possession for yourselves, rather store up treasures in heaven.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:19-21

2. Paul learned the secret to being content.

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:11-13

3. You cannot serve two masters at the same time.

No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

Matthew 6:24

4. Seek first the kingdom of God.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:33

5. Better is a little with the fear of the Lord.

Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure with trouble. Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a fatted calf with hatred.

Proverbs 15:16-17

6. Walk with integrity.

Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways.

Proverbs 28:6

7. Wisdom is better than wealth.

How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver! The highway of the upright avoids evil, those who guard their ways preserve their lives.

Proverbs 16:16-17

Obeying His Word

coffee dates

Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.”

John 14:23-24

To love Jesus is to obey his teaching.

We need to be doers of the word. We must read it, meditate on it, and live the word in our everyday lives.

Jesus says that if we love him we will do what the word says. This is Jesus talking. He couldn’t have made it any more simple then that.

When we become born again in Christ, we become new. We experience Jesus’s love and don’t want any part of our old lives. We find that there is a better way.

Becoming born again is just the first step. Leading a godly life is not always easy because there is an enemy who wants to destroy us. The only way to fight the enemy is with the word of God. It’s powerful and mighty.

When we don’t listen to his word and refuse to do what it says, Jesus is saying that by not doing so, we don’t love him. We need to understand that Jesus is the Word. He is the way, the truth, and the life. We find victory and truth in his word.

God commands us to be doers of his Word. When we take action and are obedient, He promises to bless us.

Reading the Word of God and doing what it says, proves our love for Jesus and motivates us to lead godly lives.

Suffering in Christ

coffee dates

Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

1 Peter 4:12-19

Suffering for Being a Christian

The trials we face in life don’t have to be viewed as negative! In fact we should rejoice when His glory is revealed.

As Christians we will be condemned, hated, and seen as judgmental in the eyes of the wicked. The world is getting worse and we are the only lights in this dark place.

If you are insulted because of Jesus’s name, you are actually blessed. Do not be ashamed of your faith. We are heirs to the Most High. We are children of the Almighty, and even called friend.

Jesus took a stand for us all on the cross, and paid his life for us. We need to live our lives for Him who is worthy.

It’s not an easy road. God knew it would be hard by saying so in verse 18. “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” What a powerful question that rings so true.

We have to commit ourselves 100 percent to Him. Anything less will not be enough. We need to be faithful to our God, and nothing can tear us from his mighty love!
